Mr. Hughes, a life long resident of Michigan, has always had a fascination and attraction to the waters of Michigan. After graduation from Roscommon High School, he enrolled in the Surveying program at Ferris State University, the only course of its kind in the State of Michigan in 1960. After his training at Ferris, he joined the firm of Ostling Surveys, in Roscommon, as a crew chief. In 1968, he was offered and accepted an opportunity to open a field office in Bellaire, and in 1973 began his own company, Hughes Land Surveying. In 1978, Art Gosling and Louie Czubak reorganized the long existing Traverse City firm of Perla Stout Associates under the new name of Gosling Czubak Associates and hired Corey as the new Director of Surveying. With expansion into new areas of expertise in the mid 1980’s, the firm updated its name to its current name of Gosling Czubak Engineering Sciences, Inc. Corey continued to direct the surveying department until his retirement in September of 2004.
